In 1926, when our country-was shackled-by-slavery-suffering-from-the atrocities of-British-oppressors, and finding it
difficult for Indians to breathe a sigh of peace, the intelligent woman born among those oppressors, who made India her field of
work and took a special interest in shaping the abilities ofIndian boys and girls to develop their innate tendencies, interests, and
other potential, was the educationist, Dr. Annie Besant.
This institution was born from the inspiring memory of this glorious, dignified goddess, Dr. Annie Besant. In
November 1926, Krishnashram, or the Theosophical School, Allahabad, was established in the spacious building of Justice
Knox on the picturesque banks of the sacred Bhagirathi. Numerous social workers actively contributed to the birth of this
institution, but Dr. Annie Besant, Pt. Iqbal Narayan Gurtu, and Justice Shankar Saran were prominent among them.

मुस्कुराती रहीं और अन्य व्यक्तियों की सेवा करती रहीं।
भारत माँ को अपनी माँ मानकर उसकी सेवा में जुट गईं। भारतीय
पुत्रियाँ अपनी माँ की सेवा करती हैं और उनको सुखी देखने की चाह में
अपने आपको भुला ही नहीं देती हैं वरन् आवश्यकता पड़ने पर अपने आप
को भी मिटा देती हैं। उन्होने अपने कार्यों से यह सिद्ध कर दिया कि वे सच्चे
अर्थों में एक भारतीय पुत्री थीं। जिस क्षेत्र में कार्य दिखलाई दिया वे उसी में
लग गईं। जो कुछ उनके पास था वह सब भारत माता को समर्पित कर दिया
और सारे कार्य उसी के निमित्त ही किये।
डॉ. एनी बेसेन्ट केवल एक महिला नहीं थी, अपितु एक संस्था
थीं। एक प्रभाव थीं। एक युगान्तकारी इतिहास और प्रकाशपुंज का जन्म 01
अक्टूबर 1847 में आयरलैण्ड में हुआ। जन्मी तो विदेश की धरती पर परन्तु उनका अन्तिम श्वास विलीन हुआ भारत भूमि के अडयार (मद्रास चेन्नई) में 20 सितम्बर 1933 को सायंकाल चार बजे । यह
ज्योतिपुंज आकाशदीप की भाँति आज भी हमारे बीच अमर है और हमें
